The city of Rijssen
Rijssen is a pleasant city, with many beautiful shops and good restaurants. The Christian tradition of the Rijssen population ensures that Sunday is still honoured as a day of rest. The city is located in the middle of the Regge region, which is rich in farmland. The fertile lands provide farmers with a good yield and their cattle graze on rich pastures. The farms are often still traditional and reminiscent of a bygone era. On Monday mornings there is a large fabric market in the city that attracts visitors from far and wide. A visit to the fully-restored windmill in Rijssen is also certainly worthwhile. The Rijssen Museum at De Oosterhof castle shows a lot of the history of Rijssen. The area also offers plenty of opportunities for cycling, canoeing, horseriding or even a ride through nature in a horse-drawn carriage. Buitenplaats Holten is close to Rijssen and is therefore an ideal base if you are looking for a holiday park near Rijssen.
